"It was the last week of June, 1996; My father got posting in Balrampur (UP) at the post of a Hindi Lecturer in PG college. I was going with him along with my mother and brother(who is 3 years younger than me). We were at the platform of Ara railway station (Bihar), my eyes caught the cover of a book at the book stall. It was a comics of Nagraj and I fell in love with him the very first time; it was like a love at first sight. I started whispering to my brother to ask mummy to buy this comics. He requested her and we finally got our first comics. He told me that he would like to see it first and I gave that to him (the 4 YO kid) :) and I knew that he would complete it in couple of minutes :p Then I started to read and it was like to enter in a new world of fantasy and charisma. Later on I still read such kind of books and I admit the fact that there is a big role of them in the creation of my core human values. These books always teach good to a child and in last truth always wins. In Fact I did not like when Nagraj was beaten by goons in any comics. Doga, Kobi-Bhedia and Tiranga were my favorite, however I like every superhero. I also read Tulsi comics, Diamond comics, DC and Marvel apart of my all time favorite Raj comics. Bankelal was also my favorite, however my brother likes Parmanu.

यह बात शुरू होती है जब आज की तरह जब आज की तरह दुनिया की रफतार तेज नहीं हुआ करती थी.90 का दशक रहा होगा जब मैने कोमिक पढ़ना शुरू ही किया था. वो भी मेरे पिताजी की वजह से जब वो चन्दामामा और इन्द्रजाल की कोमिक लाया करते थे. इन्द्रजाल तो आज भी उनकी पसंदीदा कोमिक है . मैने भी कोमिक इन्द्रजाल के पात्र फैंटम से पढ़ना शुरू किया था. तब मेरी कोमिक पढ़ने की शुरूआत हो चुकी थी. फिर कोमिक की दुकान से किराये पर कोमिक लाने की शुरूअात हो चुकी थी.1 रूपये में पूरे 1 दिन के लिये कोमिक लाना शुरू किया जो की दादी से मिल जाया करते थे. लेकिन कोमिक किराये पर लाना आसां नहीं हुआ करता था. क्यूंकी माँ ने कोमिक देख लिया तो बहुत डांट पड़ती थी.ईसलिये कोमिक को कमीज के अंदर छुपा कर लाना पढता था. सुपर कमांडो ध्रुव बचपन से मेरा पसंदीदा रहा है. उसकी सादगी और कभी ना हार मानने वाला ज़ज्बा मुझे बेहद पसंद है. गर्मियो की छूट्टीयो में मैं हर रोज 1 कोमिक पढा करता था. ज़िसमे मेरी पसंदीदा थी प्रतिशोध की ज्वाला, ड्रेकुला दिल्ली में , मुझे मौत चाहिये, चाचा चौधरी और उड़ने वाली कार और नागराज. वो एक सुनहरा दौर था. लेकिन धीरे धीरे वक्त अपनी रफतार पकड़ता गया और 2000 सन तक कोमिक काफी पीछे छूट गयी. फिर फेसबुक पे अपने जैसे कोमिक प्रेमियो से मुलाकात हूयी और उनसे दोस्ती होती चली गयी. और कोमिक पढ़ने और उन्हे संग्रह करने का चस्का फिर से लग गया. अब जैसे जैसे समय आगे बढ़ता जा रहा है वैसे वैसे ये शौक भी गेहरा होता जा रहा है. और कोमिक संग्रह में भी व्रद्धी हो रही है . मेरी छोटी सी मित्र मंडली में काफी दोस्त है !! धन्यवाद मित्रों !!

बात शायद 1994 की है, एक बच्चा स्कूल जाता और रास्ते में पड़ने वाली बुक शॉप पर टकटकी लगाकार एक धागे पर टंगी कॉमिक्स को देखता . कॉमिक्स के कवर पर पीली-नीली पोशाक पहने एक लड़का रेल के इंजन से बंधा हुआ था और उसके पास में एक रोबोट की शक्ल वाला व्यक्ति खड़ा था. पता नहीं उस तस्वीर में क्या जादू था कि उस बच्चे का यह नियम बन गया की रोज स्कूल जाते समय उस कॉमिक्स को टकटकी लगाकर ललचाई नजरो से देखना. बच्चा तब तक भोकाल और नागराज की कई कॉमिक्स पढ़ चुका था या यूँ कहिए उनके चित्रों का आनंद ले चुका था पर जब से उसने इस कॉमिक्स को देखा तो बाकी सब कुछ भूलकर उसने इसे पाने की ठानी. कॉमिक्स उसे अपनी बड़ी दीदी और भैया से मिलती थी और वे भोकाल की कॉमिक्स पढ़ना ज्यादा पसंद करते थे. दोनों से बड़े प्यार से गुजारिश की पर उन दोनों के मना करने पर बच्चे का दिल बहुत दुखी हुआ. अगले कई दिनों तक यही क्रम चला पर बच्चे के छोटे हाथों से अब भी वह कॉमिक्स बहुत दूर थी.

बच्चे ने एक तरकीब निकाली उस कॉमिक्स को और पास से देखने के लिए वह अब पचास पैसे की टाफी लेता और उस कॉमिक्स को निहारता. एक दिन दुकानदार अंकल ने पूछा बेटा तुम रोज इन रंग बिरंगे चित्रों वाली किताबों को देखते हो इनमे से तुम्हे क्या चाहिए? अंकल इन रंग बिरंगे चित्रों वाली किताब को कॉमिक्स कहते हैं बच्चे ने बड़ी मासूमियत से जबाव दिया .दुकानदार अंकल ने हंसकर पूछा और तुम्हे इनमे से कोनसी चाहिए? .बच्चे ने धडकते दिल से ऊँगली से इशारा किया वो. दूकानदार अंकल ने वो कॉमिक्स धागे पर से उतारकर उस बच्चे के हाथों मे थमा दी बस फिर क्या था मानो बच्चे को सारा जहाँ मिल गया. बार-बार कॉमिक्स उलट-पुलट कर देखते उस बच्चे को दुकानदार अंकल ने कहा कि बेटा तुम्हारे भैया भी मुझसे कॉमिक्स ले जाते हैं और उन्होंने कॉमिक्स एक रुपया किराये पर देने की बात कही पर बच्चे ने कॉमिक्स वापस अंकल को दी और कहा की अंकल जी आप किसी को ये देना मत मैं जल्दी ही इसे खरीद लूँगा. घर में बार-बार जिद करने पर भी जब 15 रूपये जमा नहीं हुए तो बच्चे का मन बहुत उदास हो गया बरहाल एक रूपये में वो कॉमिक्स किराये पर ली गई, स्कूल बैग में रखकर जब आधी छुटटी में उसे आधा –अधुरा पढ़ा तो नीली-पीली ड्रेस वाला वो हीरो जिसका की नाम सुपर कमांडो ध्रुव था बच्चे के दिल और दिमाग पर छा गया ये जूनून से उस बच्चे का पहला परिचय था.घर आकर जब बच्चे ने कॉमिक्स को पूरा पढ़ा तो बच्चे के दिल ने कहा कहा कि जब पुरे 15 रूपये हो जाएंगे तो सबसे पहले ये कॉमिक्स ही लूँगा अगले कुछ दिनों तक बच्चा “रोबो मैग्नाटो! मुझे अपनी शक्ति दो” चिल्लाता घूमा (हालाँकि कॉमिक्स में ये डाइलाग कही पर भी नहीं था)....

बच्चे का ये जूनून रंग लाया 19 साल बाद जब RC के नागराज जन्मोत्सव कार्यक्रम में स्टेज पर एंकर श्री क्षितिज शर्मा ने SCD से रिलेटेड क्विज कांटेस्ट मे प्रश्न पूछे तो बच्चे (जो की अब 29 साल का हो चुका था ) ने कुछ प्रश्नों के उत्तर पूरा प्रश्न सुने बिना ही दे दिए. मंच के ठीक सामने विरजमान भारतीय कॉमिक्स जगत के सभी महानुभावो और सभी कॉमिक्स प्रेमियों ने तालियों की करतल ध्वनि की लेकिन बच्चे को शायद ध्रुव की बाइक की तरह एक स्पेशल आवाज़ की गूंज का वर्षो से इंतज़ार था वो थी ..”क्या बात है” 

आवाज को सुनकर बच्चे को लगा की आज फिर उसके हाथ में उस नीली-पीली ड्रेस वाले, उसके अपने सपनो के हीरो की कॉमिक है जिसे वो पहली बार छू रहा है .ये आवाज थी उस शख्सियत की जिसने ध्रुव को रचा है “श्री अनुपम सिन्हा जी”.

वो बच्चा (यानी की मैं) आज 31 साल का हो गया है और उसके पास ये कॉमिक्स जिसका की नाम “चुम्बा का चक्रव्यूह” है ,समेत ध्रुव की सभी कॉमिक्स और 2000 से भी अधिक कॉमिक्स हैं....SCD के जूनून की इन्तहा ये है की इसके बिना जीवन अधुरा लगता है ........................

बचपन में जो SCD पढ़ने का मजा आया था वो आज भी बरकार है.. आज भी मैं नए सेट की हर RC फैन की तरह प्रतीक्षा करता हूँ.....

नमस्ते! पिछले कुछ वर्षों में लेखकों और कलाकारों के कुछ समूह मिलकर फैन कॉमिक्स और अपने रचे किरदारों पर कॉमिक्स बना रहे हैं। यूएफसी (Ultimate Fans of Comics-UFC), एफएमसी (FAN MADE COMICS-Junoon Never Die), कॉमिक्स ऑर पेशन (Comics Our Passion【COP】), ICUFC comics आदि पर युवा मित्र निरंतर किसी ना किसी आईडिया, आर्ट पर बात कर रहे होते हैं। व्हाट्सप्प पर जाने कितने आईडिया पर ब्रैनस्टोर्मिंग चलती रहती है। यहाँ दो श्रेणियों की कॉमिक हैं एक एडिटेड कॉमिक्स जिनमे पूर्व प्रकाशित पैनल और आर्टवर्क को कहानी के अनुसार एडिट किया गया है, दूसरी में नए कलाकारों, लेखकों द्वारा बनाई गयी कॉमिक्स।

Tell us something about yourself.

Hi, this is Raj Pathare. You can find me as Webhead Cosplays on Facebook & Instagram. I am an Architecture student as well as a Professional Graffiti artist.

When and how did you start cosplaying?

I started cosplaying back in 2014. I had seen some pictures from MFCC 2013 which my friends visited and I was truly amazed to see such cosplay, as I was into cartoons and comics since childhood. So my first cosplay was Doc OC from Spiderman 2. It took me around 1 month to complete and was totally low-cost cosplay but came out good and i won category award for my first cosplay. I also won in same category for same cosplay in 2015

What are the challenges that you face while cosplaying in India?

TRAVELING!!! Getting your props to con traveling by trains, especially when you stay far. Also people around look at you in a suspicious manner as if my swords are real or I am a retard, and you land up with silly questions, people don’t have an idea about cosplaying yet. When we explain that this is a cosplay or its my hobby, they ask so how much do they pay you for this! Some People think putting so much efforts in a costume that too as a hobby is waste of time! Where as some people appreciate it and get inspired.

What are some important things to consider while making props?

Prop making is fun but can be hectic at times too. Firstly you need to find materials. I usually find waste materials and try to use them in my cosplays. People appreciate when they spot those materials you used for detailing, for eg needle case, balm bottle caps, shoe laces, etc.

Besides cosplaying what other creative fields have you explored?

As i said i am graffiti artist and do it for living!! I started graffiti as a hobby 5 years back and now turned it into a profession. I have done many commercial projects such as Micromax advertisement. You can find my work at IIT Bombay (Techfest). I represent the  streets!!!

What is your favorite cosplays that you have done till now? 

Till now i have cosplayed- Doc Oc, Spidey, Deadpool, Prince of Persia, Fire Fist Ace, Vegeta.

But people gave amazing response to my Fire Fist Ace and Doc Oc. Fire Fist Ace is a great character from One Piece and so there were many one piece fans going crazy over my cosplay. Plus there was Monica Premkumar cosplaying Luffy with me which made it more catchy for one piece fans!

How can the cons and comics events can be further improved?

I feel cons should be provided with changing facilities for cosplayers. Also some lockers for them as you can see many cosplayers cosplaying as well as handling their bags and stuff!!! And also cosplayers should be given 30secs of performance time if they have something their mind.

Cosplay in India is growing and getting better! I have seen many good cosplayers since I have started, also I am a newbie and looking forward to pull out some kick ass cosplays.

What is an ideal location for cosplay shoots?

If you are looking for a location to shoot in Mumbai I will recommend Vasai Fort. Since it has many parts segregated and it is an old fort. Broken walls and arches gives good effects and add amazing background to your picture, also depends on your character. You can find pictures of my Prince of Persia shoot and Spidey shoot which was done at Vasai Fort.

Any tips for cosplay fans who are just starting up?

I always advise people to cosplay, especially the ones who ask me about cosplaying. You once try to visit a con and I am sure that you will be amazed and will have an urge to cosplay!!! Also cosplay for fun and to live your character, not for just winning. No doubt winning cosplays are great but when you cosplay your favorite character even though its simple, that feeling is different!!!

2017- नए साल की नई उम्मीदों पर राज कॉमिक्स का पुनरोद्धार- संभव या असंभव!

राज कॉमिक्स ने  साल 2016 में सिर्फ 3 सेट निकाले..जो कि उसके अब तक के सफ़र में सबसे कम आंकड़ा है! इसमें सिर्फ 10 नई कॉमिक्स ही रिलीज़ करी गई और वो भी लम्बे समय का इंतज़ार करवाने के बाद!

इस कारण से कई बार यह अफवाह भी फैली कि कहीं राज कॉमिक्स बंद तो नहीं हो रही है! इन अफवाहों को ताकत तब और मिली जब राज कॉमिक्स ने अपने फेसबुक पेज पर पोस्ट करना तक बंद कर दिया!

यह अलग बात है कि राज वालों ने ना तो इन ख़बरों पर कभी पुरजोर खंडन किया और ना पूरी तरह से इन्हें नकारा!

व्यक्तिगत तौर पर कई बार सोशल मीडिया पर प्रोफेशनल अपनी अपनी जानकारी को सीमित संख्या में पाठकों से शेयर करते रहते हैं!

लेकिन सोशल मीडिया एक सीमित वर्ग के पाठकों तक ही जरूरी बातें पहुंचा सकता है! और राज कॉमिक्स अपनी इसी कमी की वज़ह से एक बड़े पाठक वर्ग से दूर हो चुकी है...जिसको रोज सोशल मीडिया पर भी एक राज कॉमिक्स का पेज ही जानकारी के लिए मिलता था!
बाजारों से महीनो तक राज कॉमिक्स गायब रहना और कोई खबर ना मिलना...यह सब एक कंपनी की सेहत को कितना नुक्सान दे सकता है, राज कॉमिक्स इसका एक उदाहरण है! जो कि आज सिर्फ अपने एक बंधे बंधाये सीमित पाठक संख्या के भरोसे किसी तरह चल रही है!

बहरहाल नोट्बंदी के बाद शायद अब नए साल में पाठकों को ज्यादा कॉमिक्स मिल सकें!

Mrinal Rai (Best Cartoonist, Indian Comics Fandom Awards 2016) - I am an independent artist working as a freelance artist for last six years. I have self-published two comic books, Tamas and Zikr and one text cum graphic novel, Kurukshetra Yuddh. I have also worked on freelancing illustration assignments for different companies. The latest project that I worked on was a board game based on Indian epic Mahabharata. Most of my own work will revolve around Indian history and its heritage. I am strong supporter of creating stories which are true to spirit of Indian values, even of they are inspired from a foreign work. I am currently working on one comic book (second one in my comic series - Zikr), one graphic novel and second volume of my novel Kurukshetra Yuddh.
